The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 the heavens are unveiled, 11 And when Hell-fire shall be kindled to fierce ablaze. 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 Your companion is not one possessed: 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is nothing but a Reminder to the worlds, 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
