He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or have been reminded [of the truth,] and helped by this reminder. 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Noble and pious. 16 May man be slain how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And olives and palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
Almighty God's Truth.
