The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Beneficent Allah, 1 has taught the Quran to (Muhammad). 2 He created man 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon follow a reckoning. 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 And the sky He hath uplifted; and He hath set the measure, 7 That ye exceed not the measure, 8 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short! 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates,] 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord, will ye twain belie? 13 He created the human from clay, like earthenware 14 And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 16 (He is) the Lord of the two easts (places of sunrise during early summer and early winter) and the Lord of the two wests (places of sunset during early summer and early winter). 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 but has created a barrier between them so that they will not merge totally. 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Pearls and coral-stone come forth from them. 22 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 23 And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains: 24 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 25
