Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Sure Reality! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 The Thamuds were destroyed by a violent blast of sound. 5 as for Aad, they were destroyed by a howling, violent wind 6 which He let loose upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession; so that (if you had been there) you might have seen people lying prostrate, as though they were uprooted trunks of hollowed palm trees. 7 Now dost thou see any remnant of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and then crushed with a single blow, 14 On that day, the inevitable event will take place 15 The sky will cleave asunder on that day and fall to pieces. 16 And the angels will be on its sides; and on that day, eight angels will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Take, read my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 His shall be a pleasing life 21 in a high Garden, 22 The fruits of which are near at hand: 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 Oh, would that it had been death! 27 My riches have availed me not; 28 and my authority has been destroyed' 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 "Further, make him march in a chain, whereof the length is seventy cubits! 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 and did not feel any urge to feed the needy: 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 which only the sinners will eat.” 37
