The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 And what shall make thee know that which the night-comer is? 2 It is the piercing star. 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let the human being reflect that from what he has been created. 5 he has been created out of a seminal fluid 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 That this (Qur'an) is a decisive word 13 it is not a jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 and so am I: 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
