The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour of Resurrection drew near and the moon split asunder. 1 But if they [who reject all thought of the Last Hour] were to see a sign [of its approach,] they would turn aside and say: "An ever-recurring delusion!" 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 There have already come to them Recitals wherein there is (enough) to check (them), 4 Wisdom consummate. But warnings avail not. 5 Therefore, turn away from them. On the Day when the Caller summons them to a terrible thing, 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 running (with their necks extended) to the Caller. The unbelievers will say: 'This is indeed a harsh Day' 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 We therefore opened the gates of heaven, with water flowing furiously. 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 We carried him, (Noah), on a vessel built with boards fixed together with nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 We have left this as a sign: but will anyone take heed? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22
