And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 Behold, he said to his father and his people: "What worship ye?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He asked, "Do they hear you when you call to them? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 "Ye and your fathers before you?- 76 "Now [as for me, I know that,] verily, these [false deities] are my enemies, [and that none is my helper] save the Sustainer of all the worlds, 77 Who created me, and He [it is who] guides me. 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 who, when I am sick, heals me; 80 And He Who will cause me to die, then give me life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 "Forgive my father, for that he is among those astray; 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The day on which property will not avail, nor sons 88 Unless it be he, who shall bring unto Allah a whole heart, 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 whereas the blazing fire will be laid open before those who had been lost in grievous error; 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Instead of Allah? Can they help you or help themselves? 93 And they will be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 And the soldiers of Iblees, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Worlds. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 and no sincere friend. 101 Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... " 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
