The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who are clothed! 1 Arise and warn! 2 and magnify the glory of your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 and flee from the statues! 5 and bestow not favour in order to seek from others a greater return, 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 Not easy upon the disbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 And sons present by his side. 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 Verily he considered, and devised. 18 and woe to him; how he plotted! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said, "This is nothing but sorcery from the ancients. 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 What could make you conceive what hell-fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
