The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Last Hour draws near and the moon is split asunder. 1 And if they see a miracle, they turn away and say, "Passing magic." 2 And they belied, and they followed their lusts; and every affair cometh to a final goal. 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 so ignore them. On the Day when the Crier will call out about a horrible event, 6 With downcast eyes, they come forth from the graves as they were locusts spread abroad, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Nuh (Noah) denied (their Messenger) before them, they rejected Our slave, and said: "A madman!" and he was insolently rebuked and threatened. 9 Thereupon he called out to his Sustainer, "Verily, I am defeated; come Thou, then, to my succour!" 10 We opened the gates of the sky and water started to pour down. 11 And caused the earth to burst with springs, and the waters met for a matter already predestined. 12 But We bore him on an (Ark) made of broad planks and caulked with palm-fibre: 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And indeed, We have caused such [floating vessels] to remain forever a sign [of Our grace unto man]: who, then, is willing to take it to heart? 15 So how dreadful have been My torment and My warning! 16 We have made this Qur'an easy as a reminder. Is there, then, any who will take heed? 17 The 'Ad (people) (too) rejected (Truth): then how terrible was My Penalty and My Warning? 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Carrying men away as though they were trunks of palm-trees uprooted. 20 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 21 We have made it easy to learn lessons from the Quran: is there anyone who would receive admonition? 22

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
