The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
