The dead land is a sign for them. We revive it, and from it produce grain from which they eat. 33 and produced therein grains from which they eat and established therein gardens of palms trees and vineyards and have made streams flow therein 34 That they may eat of the fruit thereof, and their hands made it not. Will they not, then, give thanks? 35 Limitless in His glory is He who has created opposites in whatever the earth produces, and in men's own selves, and in that of which [as yet] they have no knowledge. 36 And a Sign for them is the Night: We withdraw therefrom the Day, and behold they are plunged in darkness; 37 And the sun runs on to a term appointed for it; that is the ordinance of the Mighty, the Knowing. 38 And the moon -- We have determined it by stations, till it returns like an aged palm-bough. 39 It is not for the sun to overtake the moon, nor doth the night outstrip the day. They float each in an orbit. 40 That We bore their progeny in the laden ark is a sign for them; 41 and We have created for them the like of it whereon they ride; 42 We drown them if We will, then they have none to cry to, nor can they be saved, 43 Unless by mercy from Us, and as a comfort for a while. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 And whenever a sign comes to them from the signs of their Lord, they always turn away from it! 46 And when it is said to them, “Spend in Allah’s cause, from what Allah has provided you”, the disbelievers say regarding the believers, “Shall we feed these, whom if Allah willed, would have fed? You are not but in open error!” 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They await but one Shout, which will surprise them while they are disputing. 49 Then they cannot make bequest, nor can they return to their own folk. 50
