Said the Council of the unbelievers of his people, who cried lies to the encounter of the world to come, and to whom We had given ease in the present' life, 'This is naught but a mortal like yourselves, who eats of what you eat and drinks of what you drink. 33 and, indeed, if you pay heed to a mortal like yourselves, you will surely be the losers! 34 What, does he promise you that when you are dead, and become dust and bones, you shall be brought forth? 35 ۞ Begone, begone, with that which ye are promised! 36 There is only the life of this world: We die and we live: there is no rising from the dead for us. 37 He is nothing but a man who has forged against Allah a lie, we will never believe him' 38 He said, "My Lord, support me because they have denied me." 39 [Allah] said, "After a little, they will surely become regretful." 40 Then the Blast overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead leaves (floating on the stream of Time)! So away with the people who do wrong! 41 Thereafter, after them, We produced other generations; 42 No nation can outstrip its term, nor yet postpone it. 43 Then We sent Our apostles one after the other. Every time an apostle came to a people they denied him. So We made one follow the other (to its doom), and turned them into bygone tales. Cursed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our signs and clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his nobles who behaved with arrogance, for they were a conceited lot, 46 They therefore said, “Shall we believe in two humans like ourselves, whereas their nation is servile to us?” 47 So they denied them and were of those destroyed. 48 And We gave Moses the Book, that haply they would be guided; 49 We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them a refuge on a hillside where there was a hollow and a spring. 50
