The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! 1 There cometh not unto them a fresh admonition from their Lord but they listen to it while they are playing. 2 Their hearts trifling; and those who are unjust counsel together in secret: He is nothing but a mortal like yourselves; what! will you then yield to enchantment while you see? 3 The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." 4 Aye! they say: a medley of dreams; aye! he hath fabricated it; aye! he is a poet; so let him bring us a sign even as the ancients were sent with. 5 Not one of the towns (populations), of those which We destroyed, believed before them (though We sent them signs), will they then believe? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 We did not make their bodies immune to hunger, nor were they immortal. 8 Then We fulfilled the promise We had made to them: We rescued them and those whom We wished, and We destroyed those who exceeded all bounds. 9 We have revealed a Book to you which is admonition for you. Will you not then understand? 10
