A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 (This is the) Book (the Quran) sent down unto you (O Muhammad SAW), so let not your breast be narrow therefrom, that you warn thereby, and a reminder unto the believers. 2 Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and follow no friends other than He; little do you remember. 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 And when Our scourge fell upon them their only cry was: 'We are indeed transgressors.' 5 Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers. 6 With knowledge We will narrate to them, for We are never absent. 7 And the weighing on that day (Day of Resurrection) will be the true (weighing). So as for those whose scale (of good deeds) will be heavy, they will be the successful (by entering Paradise). 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
