He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 And dense gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
