The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the night when it covers the day, 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one. 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 He will be far away from the most pious. (The first Caliph S. Abu Bakr Siddiq) 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and he shall surely be satisfied. 21
