The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
ALL PRAISE BE to God who has revealed to His votary the Book which is free of all obliquity, 1 (He has made it) Straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers (in the Oneness of Allah Islamic Monotheism), who work righteous deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise). 2 wherein they shall abide for ever; 3 and to warn those who say, 'God has taken to Himself a son'; 4 Neither they nor their fathers had any knowledge of such utterance (that God has begotten a son). Whatever they say about (this matter) is vicious blasphemy and plain lies. 5 But wouldst thou, perhaps, torment thyself to death with grief over them if they are not willing to believe in this message? 6 We have appointed all that is on the earth for an adornment for it, and that We may try which of them is fairest in works; 7 And verily We are going to make whatsoever is thereon a soil bare. 8 Or deemest thou that the People of the Cave and the Inscription are a wonder among Our portents? 9 When the youths sought refuge in the Cave, they said: 'Lord give us from Your Mercy and furnish us with rectitude in our affair' 10 Then We sealed up their hearing in the Cave for a number of years. 11 Then We raised them up that We might know which of the two parties was best able to compute the time for which they remained. 12
