The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
