The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but when they give by measurement or weight to others, they give them less. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 On a Great Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 How will you comprehend what Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Then indeed they have to enter hell. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 It is a written book, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Most surely the righteous shall be in bliss, 22 [resting on couches, they will look up [to God]: 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 (they said so although) they had not been appointed watchers over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
