A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Alif Lam Mim Suad. 1 This Book has been sent down to you; so do not hesitate to warn (the unbelievers) through it, and remind the faithful. 2 Follow (O men!) the revelation given unto you from your Lord, and follow not, as friends or protectors, other than Him. Little it is ye remember of admonition. 3 And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 So We shall question those unto whom a Message was sent, and We shall question the Envoys, 6 We will tell them with absolute certainty (what they had done) for We had never been absent from them (during their lifetime). 7 (Everyone's deeds) will certainly be weighed (and evaluated) on the Day of Judgment. Those whose good deeds weigh heavier than their bad deeds will have everlasting happiness. 8 And those whose scales are light are the people who put themselves to ruin – the recompense of the injustice they used to do to Our signs. 9 YEA, INDEED, [O men,] We have given you a [bountiful] place on earth, and appointed thereon means of livelihood for you: [yet] how seldom are you grateful! 10
