The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 It is a Day whereon the trumpet will be blown, and ye will come in multitudes. 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the mountains shall be moved off so that they shall remain a mere semblance. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 An exact recompense (according to their evil crimes). 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
