The Thamud rejected the warnings, 23 And they said: a mere human being from amongst us, and single! shall we follow him! verily then we should fall in error and madness. 24 How is it that he has received guidance? In fact, he is the most untruthfull and arrogant person". 25 Tomorrow shall they know who is the liar, the insolent one. 26 Verily, We are sending the she-camel as a test for them. So watch them [O Salih (Saleh)], and be patient! 27 And inform them that the water is shared between them; every share of the water shall be regulated. 28 Then they called their comrade, and he took in hand, and hamstrung her. 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lut belied the warnings. 33 Surely We sent upon them a stonestorm, except Lut's followers; We saved them a little before daybreak, 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 Early on the morrow an abiding Punishment seized them: 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 40
