۞ Muster those who did evil, their wives, and that they were serving, 22 “Instead of Allah – and herd them to the path leading to hell.” 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 'Why do you not help one another? 25 Nay, but on that Day they would willingly surrender [to God]; 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 we had no authority over you; no, you were an insolent people. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 Truly, that Day, they will (all) share in the Penalty. 33 This is how We deal with the guilty. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 and said: “Shall we forsake our deities for the sake of a distracted poet?” 36 'No indeed; but he brought the truth, and confirmed the Envoys. 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 and be rewarded only according to your deeds." 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 A cup from a gushing spring is brought round for them, 45 white and delicious to those who drink it, 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 [that] after we have died and become mere dust and bones we shall, forsooth, be brought to judgment?"' 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 for had it not been for my Sustainer's favour, I would surely be [now] among those who are given over [to suffering]! 57 Are we then not to die 58 Save our first death, and are we not to be tormented? 59 This is certainly the greatest triumph 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-Fire: 64 Its crop is as it were the heads of devils 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 then in addition to it they shall have a draught of boiling water to drink; 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
