Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 Made to drink water from the boiling hot spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread out. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Surely to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
