The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 No! I swear by the slinkers, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and brightening morning, 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 to everyone of you who wills to walk a straight way. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
