The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when full-term she-camels are neglected 4 when the savage beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall become as blazing Fire or shall overflow; 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the close of night, 17 The rising dawn, 18 that the Quran is the word of the honorable angelic, mighty Messenger 19 The mighty, the honoured in the presence of the Lord of the Throne. 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
