Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 by the clouds which are heavily loaded with water, 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily the promise made to you is true: 5 And undoubtedly justice will surely be done. 6 I swear by the heaven full of ways. 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 though only those who are averse to the Truth will turn away from (believing in it). 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 Those who have forgotten in a state of intoxication. 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 (And it will be said unto them): Taste your torment (which ye inflicted). This is what ye sought to hasten. 14 Indeed the pious are among Gardens and water springs. 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep but little of the night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 By the Lord of the heaven and the earth it is sure, even as it is a fact that ye are speaking. 23
