The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Arise and warn, 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 shun uncleanness; 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 So when the Trumpet will be blown. 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 For the disbelievers - not easy. 10 Leave Me Alone (to deal) with whom I created Alone (without any means, i.e. Al-Walid bin Al-Mughirah Al-Makhzumi)! 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 and who still greedily desires that I should bestow upon him more. 15 Nay, verily, it is against Our messages that he knowingly, stubbornly sets himself 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then he looked round; 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 and it burns the flesh. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
