Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, weary, 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 There is no food for them except thorns of fire. 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 and raised couches, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
