The Statute Book (Al-Furqaan)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ BLESSED IS HE who revealed the Criterion (of right and wrong) to His votary that it may be a warning for the world, -- 1 He to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, who has neither begotten a son nor has He a partner in His kingdom, (who) created everything and determined its exact measure. 2 And people have appointed other Gods besides Him, those who do not create anything but are themselves created, and those who do not have the power to harm or benefit themselves, and who do not have any authority over death or life nor over resurrection. 3 Those who deny the truth say, "This is only a forgery of his own invention in which others have helped him." What they say is unjust and false. 4 They say, "These things are the writings of the ancients which he has got copied down for himself, and then these are recited to him in the morning and evening.'' 5 Say: 'It was sent down by Him who knows the secrets of heavens and earth. He is Forgiving, the Most Merciful. 6 But they say: "What sort of prophet is this who eats food and walks the market places? Why was no angel sent to him to act as admonisher with him? 7 Or a treasure should have been sent down to him, or he should have had a garden from which to eat." The wrongdoers say, "You are surely following a man who is bewitched." 8 See what likenesses do they apply to you, so they have gone astray, therefore they shall not be able to find a way. 9
