The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
