The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and eyes will be humbly cast down. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But all it will take is a single blast, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Hath there come unto thee the history of Moses? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance); 21 Then turned he away in haste, 22 and gathered his people together 23 Then he said: I am your lord, the most high. 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
