The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the pregnant she-camels shall be neglected; 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 and when the girl-child that was buried alive is made to ask 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the scrolls shall be unrolled, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 But nay! I swear by the stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 and he is not one to begrudge others the knowledge [of whatever has been revealed to him] out of that which is beyond the reach of human Perception. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 This is certainly the guidance for all (jinn and mankind). 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
