The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Companions of the Left, what are the Companions of the Left? 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 and a few from later times. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 There hear they no vain speaking nor recrimination 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
