The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But as for him who is a miser, and self-sufficient, 8 And rejects goodness, 9 for him shall We make easy the path towards hardship: 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 and from which the most godfearing shall be removed, 17 Who gives his wealth in order to be pure. 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
Almighty Allah's Truth.
