The tribe of Thamud denied the Noble Messengers. 23 they said, "Are we to follow a man from amongst ourselves? We would surely then fall into error and madness. 24 "Is it that the Reminder is sent to him [Prophet Salih (Saleh)] alone from among us? Nay, he is an insolent liar!" 25 They shall know tomorrow whichsoever is a liar insolent. 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them: Each one's right to drink being brought forward (by suitable turns). 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 For We sent against them a single Mighty Blast, and they became like the dry stubble used by one who pens cattle. 31 Indeed, We have made the Quran easy to learn lessons from. Is there anyone who would receive admonition? 32 The folk of Lot rejected warnings. 33 We sent against them a violent Tornado with showers of stones, (which destroyed them), except Lut's household: them We delivered by early Dawn,- 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 He had warned them of Our might, but they passed over the warnings. 36 And they tried to persuade him regarding his guests – We therefore blinded their eyes, “So taste My punishment, and My warnings.” 37 And there came upon them by morning an abiding punishment. 38 So have a taste of My chastisement and My warnings. 39 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 40
