The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and made your sleep a means of repose, 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Behold, Gehenna has become an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
