The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught by the pen - 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
