The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the mount. 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 And the House frequented, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the sea kept filled, 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Those who in wading sport themselves. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Surely the godfearing shall be in gardens and bliss, 17 Enjoying the (Bliss) which their Lord hath bestowed on them, and their Lord shall deliver them from the Penalty of the Fire. 18 (It will be said): 'Eat and drink with a good appetite because of that which you did' 19 Reclining on thrones set in lines, and We will unite them to large-eyed beautiful ones. 20 And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 'When we were among our people' they will say, 'we were ever fearful, 26 Then Allah graced us with His favour and saved us from the chastisement of the scorching wind. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
