Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you the (sleeping) enwrapped one! 1 Keep watch all the night except some, 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof, 3 Or add to it, and recite the Qur'an with measured recitation. 4 Soon shall We send down to thee a weighty Message. 5 Surely, getting up at night [for worship] is the most potent means of subduing the self and most suitable for the word [of prayer]. 6 Indeed you have a lot of matters during the day. 7 But [whether by night or by day,] remember thy Sustainer's name, and devote thyself unto Him with utter devotion. 8 [He is] the Lord of the East and the West; there is no deity except Him, so take Him as Disposer of [your] affairs. 9 Bear patiently with what they say and with a fine abandonment forsake them. 10 And leave Me alone [to deal] with those who give the lie to the truth - those who enjoy the blessings of life [without any thought of God] - and bear thou with them for a little while: 11 Verily We shall have fetters with Us, and a roaring furnace, 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On the day the earth and mountains will rock violently, and the mountains turn to a heap of poured-out sand. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 Then Fir'awn disobeyed the apostle, wherefore We laid hold of him with a painful hold. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 This is indeed a Reminder. Let whosoever will take the Path to his Lord. 19
