The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the star when it setteth. 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he deluded; 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 It is not but a revelation revealed, 4 Bestowed on him by the Supreme Intellect, 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 while he was in the highest horizon; 7 then he drew near, and became close 8 Till he was two bows length off or yet nearer. 9 Thus He revealed unto His bondman whatsoever He revealed. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 By the lote-tree of the utmost boundary, 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 when there covered the Lote-Tree that which covered; 16 The eye turned not aside nor yet was overbold. 17 and he certainly saw some of the greatest Signs of His Lord. 18 HAVE YOU, then, ever considered [what you are worshipping in] Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 What! unto you the males and unto Him the females? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are naught but names which you have named, you and your fathers; Allah has not sent for them any authority. They follow naught but conjecture and the low desires which (their) souls incline to; and certainly the guidance has come to them from their Lord. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 Allah's is the last and the first. 25
