The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 And when the heaven is torn away. 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) shall each soul know what it has put forward. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 it is indeed the word of an Honorable Messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
