۞ When [Jesus] the son of Mary is held up as an example, your people raise an outcry on this, 57 And they say: Are our gods better, or is he? They do not set it forth to you save by way of disputation; nay, they are a contentious people. 58 He was naught but a servant on whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the children of Israel. 59 if We had so wished, We could have appointed angels in exchange for you to succeed you on the earth. 60 And he ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) [i.e. 'Iesa's (Jesus) descent on the earth]. Therefore have no doubt concerning it (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). And follow Me (Allah) (i.e. be obedient to Allah and do what He orders you to do, O mankind)! This is the Straight Path (of Islamic Monotheism, leading to Allah and to His Paradise). 61 do not let Satan bar your way. He is truly your sworn enemy. 62 When Jesus came with Clear Signs, he said: "Now have I come to you with Wisdom, and in order to make clear to you some of the (points) on which ye dispute: therefore fear Allah and obey me. 63 “Allah is indeed my Lord, and yours – therefore worship Him; this is the Straight Path.” 64 But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day! 65 ARE THEY [who are lost in sin] but waiting for the Last Hour - [waiting] that it come upon them of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]? 66 On that Day close friends shall become enemies of each other, except those who fear (Allah). 67
