Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 Which the True Spirit hath brought down 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not evidence enough for them that [so many] learned men from among the children of Israel have recognized this [as true]? 197 And had We sent it down upon a person other than an Arab, 198 And he had recited it to them, and they had not believed (it would have been different). 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 But when it comes upon them suddenly, taking them unawares, 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 Do they wish Us then to hasten the punishment? 204 Seest thou? If We do let them enjoy (this life) for a few years, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 none of their luxuries will be able to save them from the torment? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 For reminder, for We never were oppressors. 209 It was not the devils who brought down the Quran: 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 Hence, [O man,] do not invoke any other deity side by side with God, lest thou find thyself among those who are made to suffer [on Judgment Day]. 213 And warn your near relations, 214 And be kind to him who follows you of the believers. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 Have trust in the Mighty, the Merciful, 217 Who watches you when you get up, 218 And watches your movements among those who prostrate in prayer. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you upon whom the devils descend? 221 They descend upon every calumniator, sinner. 222 They give ear, but most of them are liars. 223 As for poets, only the wayward follow them. 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
True are the words of God the Almighty.
