And the chieftains of his folk, who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had made soft in the life of the world, said: This is only a mortal like you, who eateth of that whereof ye eat and drinketh of that ye drink. 33 "If ye obey a man like yourselves, behold, it is certain ye will be lost. 34 "Does he promise you that when you have died and have become dust and bones, you shall come out alive (resurrected)? 35 ۞ How far, how far, is that which you are promised. 36 "There is nothing but our life of this world! We die and we live! And we are not going to be resurrected! 37 He is only a man who has invented a lie about God, and we are not going to believe him!" 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 Said Allah, “They will soon wake up at morn, regretting.” 40 And the Cry seized them justly, and We made them as scum; so away with the people of the evildoers! 41 Then We raised after them other generations. 42 no community can advance or postpone its appointed time, 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 to Pharaoh and his courtiers, but they behaved insolently, for they were an arrogant people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they accused them of falsehood, and they became of those who were destroyed. 48 And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture that perhaps they would be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother as a Sign: We gave them both shelter on high ground, affording rest and security and furnished with springs. 50
