Jonah was certainly a Messenger. 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 The fish swallowed him up and he deserved (all this). 142 And had he not been one of those who glorify (Allah) 143 He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a desert shore while he was sick; 145 and caused a gourd tree to grow over him, 146 And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more. 147 and they believed; so We gave them enjoyment for a while. 148 Now ask them their opinion: Is it that thy Lord has (only) daughters, and they have sons?- 149 Or did We make the angels females, and they witnessed it? 150 Lo! verily it is of their falsehood that they say: 151 “Allah has begotten.” They are liars! 152 Hath He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will ye not then be admonished? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Then bring your book, if ye say sooth. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Glory be to God above that they describe, 159 Except the slaves of Allah, whom He choses (for His Mercy i.e. true believers of Islamic Monotheism who do not attribute false things unto Allah). 160 But as for you, and that you serve, 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 Except such as are (themselves) going to the blazing Fire! 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 We stand in ranks (for prayer) 165 We glorify God." 166 What, would they then say: 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 Yet now (that it has come) they refuse to believe in it; but they will come to know soon. 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 That they verily would be helped, 172 And that certainly Our armies will be victorious. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 And wait; they will come to know soon. 175 Our torment seek they to hasten on! 176 When it lights in their courtyard, how evil will be the morning of them that are warned! 177 So turn thou from them for a while, 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Your Lord, the Lord of Honor, is too exalted to be considered as they describe Him. 180 Peace be with the Messengers (of God). 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182
