Some of the Pharaoh's nobles considered him to be no more than a skillful magician 109 who seeks to drive you from your land!" Pharaoh said, "What then do you advise?" 110 They said: "Put him and his brother off (for a time), and send callers (men) to the cities to collect (and) - 111 Who will bring you every learned magician." 112 And the magicians came to Firaun, and said, “Will we get some reward if we are victorious?” 113 He said, “Yes, and you will then become close to me.” 114 They said: O Moses! Either throw (first) or let us be the first throwers? 115 He said: Cast. So when they cast, they deceived the people's eyes and frightened them, and they produced a mighty enchantment. 116 We said to Moses: "Throw down your staff;" and it swallowed up their conjurations in no time. 117 ۞ So the truth came to pass, and false was proved what they were doing. 118 And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased. 119 And the sorcerers fell down prostrate. 120 saying: 'We believe in the Lord of the Worlds, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron.' 122 Said Pharaoh: "Believe ye in Him before I give you permission? Surely this is a trick which ye have planned in the city to drive out its people: but soon shall ye know (the consequences). 123 most certainly shall I cut off your hands and your feet in great numbers, because of [your] perverseness, and then I shall most certainly crucify you, in great numbers, all together!" 124 They answered: "Verily, unto our Sustainer do we turn 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126
