The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
