The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 They will dwell therein for ages. 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
