Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Inevitable? 2 And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 But the Thamud,- they were destroyed by a terrible Storm of thunder and lightning! 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharoah and those before him and the inhabitants of the overthrown cities persistently committed grave sins. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 Verily when the water rose to great heights, We bore you upon a floating vessel (i.e. the Ark) 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 on that Day the Great Event will come to pass. 15 and the sky will be rent asunder - for, frail will it have become on that Day; 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight angels will, that Day, bear the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 He who is given his ledger in his right hand, will say: "Here, read my ledger. 19 Surely, I knew that I should meet my reckoning," 20 Then he shall find himself in a life of bliss; 21 in a high Garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 Nor that I knew my reckoning! 26 I wish my death had been the decisive one. 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 "My power and arguments (to defend myself) have gone from me!" 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 then throw them into hell to be heated up therein. 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 nor did he feel any urge to feed the needy, 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor food other than suppuration (filth) 36 "Which none do eat but those in sin." 37
